This course will meet for four 90 minute sessions on Wednesdays @ 9:00-10:30 am ET, March 12 - April 2, 2025*
*For flexibility, the course will also be offered on Mondays, from 1:00 to 2:30 PM. Students may choose to attend on either Monday or Wednesday.
Explore the untold stories of queer and trans artists from 1830 onward, examining how gender and sexuality have shaped both art and society. From 19th-century painters like Thomas Eakins and John Singer Sargent, who navigated coded visual languages, to 20th-century artists such as Charles Demuth, Marsden Hartley, and Florine Stettheimer, this course delves into how queer and trans identities have influenced artistic movements—often in ways that mainstream history has overlooked.
